How RIVA Spain’s European White Oak floors are selected, crafted, and delivered — with no intermediaries
Most hardwood floors arrive without a story. You open the box, install the product, and its origin remains invisible.
RIVA Spain floors are different. They carry a clear provenance — shaped by heritage, precision, and a controlled process that begins in the forest and ends in your space. This is how they are made.
80 Years of Craftsmanship in Wood
The story begins in 1937, in a small workshop in Vigo, Spain, where the Iglesias family first started working with wood.

For over 80 years, four generations have refined their expertise in wood selection, processing, and hardwood flooring manufacturing — building a legacy rooted in precision and material understanding.
RIVA Spain, founded in 2018 by CEO Borja Iglesias, brings this heritage to the United States market, combining European craftsmanship with modern distribution.
Quality at RIVA Spain is not a claim — it is a system.
It is embedded in every decision, from raw material selection to the final finish.
“We do not talk about quality. We build it into every decision we make — from the forest to the finished floor.”

The First Quality Gate: Selecting European White Oak
Not every European White Oak tree becomes a RIVA floor. At the point of origin, each timber is evaluated against strict criteria:
- Growth ring density
- Grain direction and consistency
- Dimensional stability
- Moisture content
- Absence of structural or visual defects
Only the highest-quality timber enters production.
This level of selectivity ensures that what arrives at the factory in Vigo is not an average of the available supply —it is the best of it.
The Manufacturing Process: Precision at Every Step

Every RIVA Spain hardwood floor undergoes a carefully controlled six-step process designed to maximize stability, durability, and aesthetic refinement:
1. Drying: One of the most critical — and often underestimated — stages.
Green lumber is gradually dried under controlled conditions to achieve optimal moisture levels, preventing future movement or deformation.
2. Cold Pressing: The European White Oak top layer is bonded to a Baltic Birch plywood core using a cold press system.
Although slower than hot pressing, this method ensures stronger adhesion while preserving the wood’s natural color and texture.
3. Profiling: Each plank is precisely shaped using advanced techniques, including tongue-and-groove systems, click systems, and beveling for seamless installation.
4. Brushing: A steel brush is applied to the surface, enhancing the natural grain and creating a refined texture that elevates the wood’s character.
5. Filling: For character-grade planks, open knots are filled to achieve the desired aesthetic — whether a more rustic contrast or a seamless, blended finish.
6. Finishing: Six layers of UV-cured lacquer are applied to protect the surface, increasing durability while maintaining a natural, matte appearance.
A Standard of Inspection
Each board passes through multiple inspection stages before it is approved for finishing.
- Automated systems detect dimensional inconsistencies
- Skilled inspectors evaluate grain, tone, and surface quality
- Every plank is reviewed to ensure it meets RIVA Spain’s standards
This balance between technology and human expertise ensures consistency across every collection. At our factory, a significant portion of our inspection team is composed of highly skilled women, recognized for their exceptional attention to detail and refined ability to assess grain, color consistency, and surface character.
From Vigo, Spain to Your Project

Once completed, the flooring travels directly from the factory in Vigo, Spain to RIVA Spain’s U.S. distribution center in Florida.
There, products are stored in climate-controlled conditions, ensuring they remain stable and ready for installation.
This system allows for:
- Immediate product availability
- Reliable delivery timelines
- Consistent product quality upon arrival
With no intermediaries between manufacturing and delivery, the chain of quality remains intact.
What leaves Vigo is exactly what arrives at your project.
