Dusting and Sweeping

Do's

  • Elevate the lifespan of your hardwood floors with consistent dusting. Use a disposable cloth or reusable microfiber pad. Static electricity traps dirt, particles and other household allergens.
  • Opt for tools that capture debris for a pristine finish.

Dont's

  • Avoid brooms that merely push dirt around.
  • When cleaning your floors, avoid lifting your microfiber to keep the dirt trapped on the pad.

Vacuuming and Mopping

Do's

  • Exercise caution by using a vacuum without beater bars and avoid deactivating the beater brush feature to prevent damage and scratches on the hardwood floor surface.
  • Opt for a damp sponge, cloth, traditional mop, or a “Swiffer” type mop for mopping, ensuring excess moisture is avoided.
  • For large areas, consider using recommended cleaning solutions like diluted Bona® Pro Series Hardwood Floor Cleaner. Use Bona® Hardwood Floor Cleaner spray for optimal results in small areas.
  • Allow the floor to thoroughly dry post-cleaning before walking on them.

Dont's

  • Prevent abrasive particles like sand, dirt, and grit from damaging your floor’s finish.
  • Exercise caution with dirty footwear, sharp or damaged heels, and ensure regular pet claw trimming to reduce scratches.

Preventive Maintenance

Do's

  • Swiftly attend to spills by promptly soaking up any liquid and wiping the area clean, utilizing recommended cleaning solutions.
  • Protective matts placed at external entrances can be highly effective at prolonging the appearance and life of the floor.
  • Utilize protective pads for furniture feet and never drag or slide furniture without adequate safeguards to maintain floors integrity.

Dont's

  • Never employ overly wet mopping or steam devices, as they may harm the floor’s finish over time.
  • Avoid outdated cleaning methods like vinegar, soap, or wax, as they could lead to lasting damage to the floors.

FIREWOOD

The upper section of the tree is used for firewood, which may not be suitable for flooring due to higher branch density and smaller trunk size.

CHARACTER

Our character grade comes from the middle part of the tree. This part has a visual appeal and some knots but avoids the large holes of the top part. We refer to our character grade as “light character”.

SELECT

Our select grade comes from the bottom part of the tree and is the youngest wood, which results in the absence of knots and a sleek appearance.
